a modern stone-age family

This past weekend was a fun. My Mom and Dad came down for Dad's mission reunion (did you know his mission president just got called as a general authority?? my dad told me only like 5 or 6 times so i wouldn't forget) But friday i had a nice lunch and a quick trip to the mall with them before they went to the reunion, which i heard was fabulous, and it turns out the stories that my dad has always told me and my sisters about his mission are true, and other missionaries remember similar things. Mom and Dad were lucky to travel down with grandma and grandpa in their new Prius! Saturday after the morning session of conference, they came and picked me up and i spent the rest of the weekend at aunty wilma's in SLC.

Here is Aunty Wilma working on the birthday cake... it looked good and tasted good as well.

Dad was happy or surprised to be in front of the camera..

On saturday we got to go watch nicole play lacrosse! and they even won. You can tell she has some canadian in her afterall playing lacrosse and all.

Saturday night nicole had a school dance.. and EVERYONE was there to greet her date when he came to pick her up. Poor guy...

So aunty wilma was icing the cake.. and ran out of icing.. so she had to improvise... its a good thing Koshi was around. Just kidding!

I think all her hard work on the cake paid off. Fred turned out great.. even if he looked really tanned. I told her i would edit the photo before i posted it.. and i neglected to do so. I am sorry Aunty Wilma.

So we sang happy birthday to Dad, Blade and Chay.. who's birthdays are all coming up. to explain the number of candles: Dad is probably turning older than 3, blade is turning 3, and sometimes chay acts like he is 3.

Sunday afternoon we went to Liberty Park and went for a nice walk around. It was nice to have Blake around, he is able to handle chay much better than any of us.

Your dad looks like hiro in that picture on the cuddle bag.

And sympathy for that poor boy, he must have had no idea what he was getting himself into when he asked her to the dance.

Hey Alana,

It was great to see you. It was a nice mission reunion. Did I mention that my mission president was called as an Area Authority Seventy?

It was a great weekend with conference.

Tell Blake I'm sorry for coughing all over him in the restaurant.

Dad

Dad's mission president got called to be an area authority????

Where have I been??

of course i'm kidding. Dad left me a message telling me that, then wrote it in an email, then told me a few times on the phone! hahaha Love it!

Looks like it was a fun weekend!! I LOVE THE CAKE! I'm glad chay has met his match!! :) and mostly I LOVE the picture of Nicole and her date. I think my favorite part of that picture is grandma taking a picture in the lower left hand corner!!! It'll be nice to be able to go to SLC one day! i haven't been since I was pregnant with Brylie. It's Been YEARS!!!

I'm a little curious about Dad coughing all over Blake. Sounds like there might be a story behind that one!

My favorite part of the day was when we talked for a few seconds on the computer and i remembered that we are still exactly the same! :)

I miss you!!!

SERIOUSLY!

Alana, thanks for the great post, and the funny comments, you made me laugh. I hope Chay wasn't too much work. It was great to have you and Blake up on the weekend. It was a great week end for me! How is that one picture of Grandma eating the b-day cake? Good luck on you finals!

What's with all you Takahashi's being so dang artistic? You should all be cake decorators. After seeing Brylie's Nemo Cake.. now this one -- I will never make my own cake again! Haha. So is your Auntie Wilma pro with the Flinstones art or what? Does it have something to do with her name? ;)

That's really funny about Nicole and her date... poor guy... that's hilarious. I wish I coulda been there to enjoy in his awkward embarassment. And I too am interested in hearing the coughing story. Slash that last picture of Blake and Chay is priceless haha.

I was hoping you'd post some pictures of yourself though :( Miss you. See you in 4 days :D
