Celebrating America

Remember that one day when I decided to make cookies with Tracen? Well luckily I remembered what has happened before, like when he put a measuring cup in the bowl and the kitchen aid broke, and so we just did it by hand with a spoon.  And then he threw all the eggs on the floor before we could actually get started - nothing better than cleaning up egg yolk.

Anyways, we had a great 4th of July, and the pictures aren't really in order but that doesn't matter.

We started the day off with the parade and the splash park (the picture is at the bottom, and I'm too lazy to move it).  Next were naps and prepping for our fun BBQ dinner in Idaho Falls.

Tracen takes a car or truck with him everywhere

Tracen and Lila loved running, well actually Tracen loves to be chased and Lila loves to help out and chase him (we are going to miss our red-headed friends)

The food was delicious and even though there was a major delay on the fireworks, they were worth the wait and we couldn't have picked a better spot to watch them.  We even managed to avoid traffic jams that usually make the 30 minute ride home hours long.

Camping in Rexburg

Camping feels like it was forever ago!  We went with the Forester's for our first time camping as a family, and their first time with their two girls.  We did one night and it was perfect! The best part was that we were still in Rexburg.

Lila and Tracen had a lot of fun playing and exploring, and were both filthy minutes after we got there.

Tracen loved the tent, and could have just played in there.  I was worried about putting him to sleep, but that was the easy part, getting him to stay asleep was the hard part.
We woke up early, had a yummy breakfast and packed up and then drove the 2 minute drive home.

Later that day we went to Idaho Falls and Tracen enjoyed his ice cream cone.

JR Sandhu Wedding: Friday & Saturday

I am still playing catch-up from June... Oh man.

Well I don't have as many pictures of the wedding festivities from Friday and Saturday, because of my duties as a bridesmaid (smiling for pictures and helping to do up dresses haha)

Jacqui looked amazing and it was cool to participate in the Sikh ceremony on Friday.

Her dress and jewellery weighed over 15lbs!

Saturday was the real marriage ceremony and it was in the most beautiful location at the Hatch's house.  There were threats of rain coming from Edmonton, but it never reached us where we were!

The reception hall looked transformed and all that hard work from everyone sure paid off.
It was such a great party and we didn't get back to our hotel til almost 3 AM, and people were still dancing when we left.

 Jacqui and Raj
Papahashi did a great job at MCing with Vik.
 The first dance
We were so happy that Grandma was able to make it to the wedding, and she danced up a storm.
 Tracen and I dancing.
Proof that Grandma, Uncle Pat and Auntie Diane were Indian dancing.

I am so excited for Jacqui and Raj, and so happy that they are a part of our family!

Things we love (Tracen and Alana)

1. Pandora - Elizabeth Mitchell station (with some 70s music added in like Fleetwood Mac and James Taylor)

2.  Walks to the park

3.  Banana ice cream (frozen bananas blended with cocoa, almond milk and cinnamon)

4.  Endless ABC on the iPad (Tracen is finally learning his alphabet)

5.  Cheese string (in Canada) or string cheese (in the USA) as a quick no mess snack

6.  Free lunches at the park all summer long (for Tracen)

7.  Friends to walk with, run with, and eat ice cream with

JR Sandhu Wedding: Wednesday

Wednesday (of the week I went home) I drove to Edmonton, met Jacqui at the temple.  It was so nice to spend some one-on-one time with Jacqui, and at the temple no-less.

Then it was off to the reception hall to get started on decorating - we were so glad that they were playing bollywood movies for us.

So many people came to help, which was so nice because there were 400 chair covers to put on!
Don't be fooled by Troy - I think he did more talking than helping.. haha

Then it was off to Raj's for henna and great indian food and partying!

I could go on and on about how friendly Raj's family is and how cool it was to be a part of their wedding.

Calgary and Lethbridge

We were lucky when we went home for Jacqui's wedding to be able to go for a 10 day trip.  It was jam packed, and although there were some bumps along the way (changing our flight at the airport, meltdowns, bloody noses, tears from both of us on the flight) we enjoyed it.

We went on Monday to go visit Grandpa Takahashi and Grandma at the hospital.

I was surprised at how well behaved Tracen was for our 3+ hour visit.

We sure love Grandma and Grandpa Takahashi and visiting them is always fun, and Grandma always remembers to bring snacks for Tracen (she knows the way to his heart).

Tracen loves his Aunties and Jamie took him out to play on the swing, he loved it.
These two boys love eachother, and Tracen is lucky to have a Grandpa that will build (and rebuild) lego towers.

Legacy Flight Museum

There was a free Father's Day breakfast at the Legacy Flight Museum on June 15th.

If there is one thing I've learned from my Father, it is to never turn down anything free.

It was a lot of fun and there were lots of planes taking off and landing.

Sometimes Tracen does this pose below, I think he thinks it looks cool.

Stori and Tracen were in heaven, and that runway just 10 feet in front of them was where the planes were taking off from.

Tracen and I left in the afternoon of Father's Day to Calgary, but not before Luke got some cuddles.
