Rai had been talking for months about how he wanted a "kids ghostbusters birthday cake". I had no idea what that meant, and Rai had only ever heard the ghostbusters song on Just Dance, so I wasn't sure what he expected. He actually did end up watching some Ghostbusters (the old cartoon) on Netflix and still wanted that for his birthday. Since we had already celebrated in Arizona we had a low-key day
Birthday French toast for breakfast. To my boys anything becomes special if we put some sprinkles on it.
He was spoiled by family this year and has loved all his gifts.
He was so happy to have school on his birthday, and we made some ghostbuster cupcakes (thanks nerdy nummies) for his class. Jacquie was the best and it was basically a birthday party for him, complete with the "science-tester" volcano he had been talking about for weeks.
The green slime was what Rai was really excited about (just some lemon curd with green food coloring).
We had some cafe rio for dinner and came home to have cake.
Four is such a magical age, and I sure love to hear this boy chatter about what is on his mind and heart and discover how the world works.
His celebrations continued for the next week or so with more presents and even a date just him and I.
We went to Target first.
Then picked up food and had a picnic. Unfortunately it was a very windy day, but eating in the back of the car was a lot of fun. Rai kept saying every time a car pulled up that he thought that they probably wanted to have a picnic like us.
Then it was a trip to menchies to get dessert.
We talked and chatted the whole date, and the undivided attention was nice for both of us. I need to be better at doing more one-on-one with each of my boys.
